Suspicious ebay/pay pal account

I have just sold an item to a person who only opened their ebay and pay pal account 2 days ago and so have a 0 rating. When I advertised the item I'm sure I put that I would not accept bidders with a 0 rating but obviously they have won the bid and they have paid via pay pal.

I am aware of the sellers protection policy but my concern is what happens if it turns out their pay pal account has in some way been falsely opened. I have heard in the past that if this were the case pay pal can take back the funds and so I would be left with nothing.

Am I right in thinking this or would I be fully covered against any fraud so long as I follow the sellers protection policy, ie by posting the item in the correct manner.

The item is only £35 pounds, but it is the principle that I don't want to be scammed.

Any help appreciated as new to ebay .

Ship the item to the address on the paypal payment page, using a shipping method that shows delivery online, (recorded delivery would be dandy for an item of this value), within seven days, and you'll be eligible for seller protection Smiley Happy

Hey there, parcel,

If your buyer says they have send you money already, I would advise checking the email address you have used on your eBay listing.

You can see the email address used by finding the item you sold and click 'Sell a similar item' under 'More Actions'. Then go to the section 'Decide how you'd like to be paid', which displays the email address where the payment was sent.

If the item has been sent to a wrong email address you can send a money request to your buyer and ask your buyer to cancel the first payment.

Please note that the payment will not show on a statement. The funds will credit to your PayPal account balance. They then have to be manually withdrawn to your bank account.

I hope this helps.
