Sellers Protection Question

Good afternoon, i've stumbled across an idea today, but i'm new to the selling side of paypal and looking for some guidance little explenation: I plan to buy a digital code for a gaming accessory (tokens to buy merchandise within a game) and to sell them on ebay unused for a slight profit. I have bought these codes in the past from an official website after realising the gaming company were selling it for a much higher price. when i bought the codes in the past, after making payment, the code was digitally downloaded to my mobile device or laptop for me to manually insert into the console that i played. However, I have a concern about my idea. How/will/can paypal cover me, if 'X' person buys my digital code, uses it successfully, then claims that it does not work in an attempt to reclaim their money, because why not, right? would i simply have no protection for this? would i need a business account? thanks for reading. (if it helps, i plan to do this with a game on xbox and playstation)

There is 0 seller protection with paypal for items that are intangible or digital.

You can sell them but at your own risk.

thank you for your answer. I would be a trustworthy seller and plan to keep people happy to create a consistent profit, that being said, can i reverse that risk towards to buyer rather than myself by stating in my listing something along the lines of .. "note that upon purchasing this item you agree to there being no refund for codes that will not work, although upon request I will supply a receipt of the original purchase made through a trusted dealer" ?

You can't negate a buyers buyer protection by putting anything in your listing as it would not affect anything paypal decides.

You already agreed to paypals user agreement when you opened your paypal account and you have to abide by their rules.

It's the buyer who risks everything buying codes, not you the seller.

I always buy digital codes but use a reputable seller.

Hope that answers your question.

NOT correct, there is NO paypal seller protection for sellers selling virtual / digital items with paypal. There may be with ebay but not paypal.

Whereas a buyer is covered for non receipt of that sort of item with paypal but not for 'not as described'.

Also a seller equally would not be covered at all with seller protection if they received a chargeback.
