Item Not Delivered Overseas.

First time on here so hope someone can advise me/confirm my ideas.

I recently sold an item via Discogs website. I don't tend to sell too much through them as their forum shows there are frequent issues with items not arriving. The buyer woudn't pay for signed for, just economy. Reluctantly I agreed, though I have now changed my shipping policy. The item was posted a month ago and I have proof of postage but obviously no physical record of where it was sent. The buyer hasn't hassled me at all about it but, rightly, wants his item or his money back. Royal Mail wants you to wait 20 working days from the due date before claiming for a refund. Am I right in thinking that I should just refund the guy then chase the post office in due course, or has paypal got my back on this one and do i approach them?

Thanks

If your buyer filed a dispute with paypal for non receipt of item then unless you could provide a tracking number that proved delivery of the item to your buyer you would lose that dispute.

Personally I would not let the buyer choose what he would pay for shipping as tracking would be for my protection and not the buyers.

What you do next is up to you, you can ask the buyer to wait and hope they don't file a dispute and see if the item arrives soon or you can refund.

However this depends on how long it has been since you sent the item as you don't want to refund and then find it turns up.

You can chase it with RM but if you did not send trackable you won't get much in the way of compensation.

Thanks for getting back. He's not trying to raise a dispute as far as I'm aware. I'll just refund him, I feel he's genuine, certainly his buyer feedback looks 100% positive. Looking at the RM website it seems even economy is covered up to £20, but I imagine actually getting hold of it is going to take some doing.
