chargeback with title item not described

Hi,

We are using PayPal for more than 5 years and we have never had any major issue till now. Recently one of our customer bought the product as graphic card which cost more than $3K. After dispatching the product on time, he/she filed claim with his/her bank via PayPal with the reason code as "item significantly different then advertised". We have done our checks and product is exactly same as we have advertised.

Then we have asked customer to provide the  pics of the product that they have received physically so that we can investigate. Never got the response from the customer. Meanwhile we have provided all supportive information that PayPal has asked for but I was surprise that PayPal doesn't have any authority from third party to stop the payment. We are genuine business and help the customer each and every way but how come this kind of customers taking advantage of the finance system where they are not responding to the queries asked and still financial institution accepting the claims. Does any one know how to prevent this kind of situation and how?

I am just sharing my experience to the community so that if any of the seller come across this then they can do the due diligence. I strongly recommend to PayPal that please help us and protect this kind of behaviour from the customer.

Apologise if the content of the post is out of contexts but it's genuine situation to make sure PayPal is safe place to run the business.

The chargeback process is external to the PayPal system. The buyer's credit card issuer grants its members specific consumer protection which PayPal has no authority to replace or reduce. If a PayPal user initiates a chargeback with their credit card company Paypal have no way of stopping the claim.

If the card issuer grants the case in the buyer's favour, Paypal review the transaction on your PayPal account to see if it is eligible for Seller Protection.
