Unauthorized transfer from Bank account

I have several "pending" transfer from account transactions on my PayPal account that I did not authorize.
Even though it says "pending" on PayPal, these amounts HAVE been taken from my bank account.
There are four amounts of $999.00 and one amount of $99.99
I cannot dispute these amounts and my bank said it's not their problem, it's Paypal's issue.

I have no idea how to proceed with this issue. I need help desperately!

Hello @LindsayFP

Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum!

I'm sorry to hear about the unauthorized transaction on your PayPal account. An unauthorized dispute cannot be filed on pending transactions. If they update to a "completed" status, you can file a dispute following the instructions in this Help Center article. If the payments are also pending authorizations on your bank's side, that might be why they're unable to dispute them right now.

If you haven't already, please reset your password and security questions right away. I also suggest setting up 2-Step Verification to add an extra layer of security to your account. If you see the contact information for the merchant on the pending transactions, I would send them a heads-up that they weren't authorized. They might be able to cancel them for you. I'd also recommend checking for any subscriptions and canceling those as well.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Customer Support through any of these options if you have any other questions or need any additional assistance.

I hope you're able to resecure the account and file a dispute to receive a refund right away!

Log in to PayPal, contact support.  While logged into PayPal, change your password and enable 2fa if it isn't already.  Then do the same for your email account.  It appears you got hacked and the money in question has been sent via an eCheque.

Have you received any emails of late from PayPal that you clicked on a link within that email?  If yes, Check that email and see if they address you by name or by your email address.  If it is by email address, then it is 100% a scam email.  Also include that email with any correspondence with PayPal.  Pay Pal will always address you by first and last name in ANY authorized email.

Email addresses should never include your real name, as people can use that to send authentic looking emails.  It's a sad state of affairs, but it's the world we live in now.
