I got emails from PayPal within a couple minutes saying that someone had added a trusted device, added an email, turned on autopay to my PayPal credit account, and turned on autopay to my PayPal Mastercard account. When I tried to get in, they had removed my email address. I was able to get in through the app, shut down their session/trusted device, add my email address back, and remove theirs. They hadn't changed my password, and I changed it. I contacted PayPal, they opened a case for unauthorized access, then shortly after, I got an email that just said the case was closed in my favor. What is going on here? Why would someone hack into my account just to set up autopay to MY credit cards? Maybe I stopped them before they did more, but why would they do that to begin with? PayPal gave me zero info as to what happened, how they got in, if my other info is at risk, etc. Please advise!
