Cannot close my account

Hi there,

I just saw recently that my PayPal account was permanently limited; I do not really mind since I haven't been using PayPal for a while.

As such, as it became useless, I'd like to close it permanently since I don't want my (sensitive) info to be in the hands of a company if there's no point for this.

Yet, I can't close my account by myself (in my account settings) and when I called them, they told me they couldn't close it! Saying that they don't have the option to do so.

Hence, my question is, as I live in the EU, can I fill in a complaint or something like that to close my account, as every EU citizen has got the right to ask for data deletion, and a company cannot just refuse, except for legal issues and underway prosecutions, which is not my case?

Thanks if someone can help me

Hi there,

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, I've already read this article, but I can't go through the standard process since my account is permanently limited.

I'll then try to send an email to PayPal Data DPT. If PayPal doesn't answer me in 31 days, or give me a negative answer, I'll file in a complaint to the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty in my country.

If you've got anything else to help me, go ahead.

Have a nice evening
