Seller scammed me, Tracking Details Provided, Item shows as not delivered or shipped.

Hello,

I have a major concern about a scam which I've been a victim of which has been bothering me and I'm not sure if I've done right thing or not to solve it and I wanted some advice.

On the 5th of February, I have bought a Meta Quest 2 (VR Headset) from eBay that costed me around £200 through PayPal. The item had 10 of these sold and the seller who I bought it off had positive overall reviews and I had thought they would've been trustworthy. But I was wrong.

On the day of purchase they have given me a Tracking Number with EVRI immediately which I found it odd. The estimated delivery was supposed to be on the 8th of February.

The next day after purchase (6th February), I wanted to contact the seller about something only to find out that the seller has removed all their listings and their account is 'No Longer Registered' on eBay.

After finding this out, I knew something was wrong and I immediately started a case with PayPal about this. The day I have filed the case, the seller provided PayPal with the tracking information in which it showed that the courier never received the item from the seller to send it to me in the first place.

I'm aware of the buyer's protection and the rule that mentions:

'If the seller presents evidence that they delivered the goods to you, PayPal may find in favour of the seller for an Item Not Received claim even if you claim you did not receive the goods.'

But here's the thing. It is now the 23rd of February, the tracking number on the EVRI website still hasn't been updated and it still shows that they have not received the item from the seller to send it to me. No update about shipping it or delivering it to me, it's just stuck on 'We're expecting it'.

At this point, it clearly shows that I will never receive nor will the seller ever give it to the courier, but I still feel uneasy about this situation and I'm not sure if there's anything I'm missing. It's just a few days until the estimated date of the case resolution. Is there anything else I need to do? Will I be able to get a full refund? Sorry it's just that I'm worrying too much and £200 overall is a lot to me and I hope I can get a full refund back. Any feedback would be much appreciated Thanks.

Would have been a lot easier if you had done an ebay dispute OR contacted ebay customer services stated the seller was now NARU and they would have refunded you.

However as its not a paypal dispute have you escalated to a claim? If so then wait for paypal to check the tracking number and if it does not show as delivered you may get a refund. In the meantime you could reach out to customer services and state the information you have provided on here and they may refund you sooner?

If by any chance you lose then post back for more advice.

Hello,

Thanks for replying back. I was thinking of contacting eBay at first but I don't know why I ended up contacting PayPal instead. I contacted PayPal as you've said through messages and they have actually given me a full refund almost immediately, I didn't have to say anything or provide any information lol. They just looked at my case, said it was in my favor and gave it to me. Pretty funny, I wonder if I didn't contact them I would've had to wait for weeks just to get it but Thank you so much.
