I have an item I need to return to get refund. The cost to return item to china is more than my purchase cost and vendor refuses to pay return shipping. Any thoughts on how to proceed.

In the event of a dispute you choose your seller and not Paypal so you need to bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you go ahead and buy from that seller / country.

Paypal state this >>
IMPORTANT: You may be required to return the item to the seller or other party we specify as part of the settlement of your claim. PayPal Buyer Protection does not entitle you to reimbursement for the return shipping costs that you may incur.

You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card.

Did you get this resolved? I have the same issue and Paypal has closed the case I had against the seller.

Hello @davidlinares81

Welcome back to the PayPal Community!

I understand your recent case was closed, and I'm sorry to hear that. If PayPal had requested that the item be returned to the merchant, but a tracking number was not provided within the required timeframe, the case would automatically close. In this situation, the case would only be eligible for appeal if the item was returned in that timeframe, but the tracking number just wasn't uploaded in time. If that's what happened, you'd need to continue working with the merchant or seek other recourse outside of PayPal for a refund.

However, if the case was closed for a different reason, you might be eligible for an appeal. Feel free to reach out to Customer Support through one of these options to discuss how you may be able to proceed.

I hope you receive a refund soon!
