Possible Scam

I had another odd 'thing' recently.

I ordered an item on line and paid with PayPal in the normal way.

I did not get an acknowledgement of the 'order'.

I looked in my PayPal account and noticed the money was recorded as a 'gift' not a payment.

I know the money is gone, but I wonder how they managed to do it??

I sent a couple of mails through PayPal, which were ignored and now that avenue is closed.

Hello @Henryv1,

Welcome to PayPal Community Forum and thank you for posting!

I am sorry to hear you haven't received an item you purchased. Regrettably, Friends and Family payments or sending money as gift are not covered with the PayPal Buyer Protection. These type of payments cannot be disputed. It is important to use the Good and Services payment option when buying anything via PayPal, to ensure the transaction is protected if any issue arise. You may reach out to your Financial Institution through which the payment was processed, for example: bank or card to see if they could help further.

Regards,

Ayesha

Thank you Ayesha.

I am not worried about a refund, I was concerned that they could switch this to a Paypal GIFT,

on Paypal.

It was only approx £64, but could have been a lot more!!! Thousands???

Then what can the PayPal customer do???

There must be a way to get confirmation of ALL GIFTS before processing them??

Henry.
