F&F payment for goods

Hi, want to pay for a skip (don't all get excited at once) ad on Facebook Marketplace and seller wants full payment before delivery through friends and family PayPal payment. I feel extremely uncomfortable with this as no1 I've never used this company before and the payment is going to an individual not a business. It is not unusual to pay for the skip up front but the rest is just unnerving. I understand businesses ask for friends & family so they have the funds without a hold period and don't incur further costs any advice welcome

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks this is exact why I don't want to pay for the skip this way. I have engaged with the seller to see if they will provide company info etc and hopefully I can pay in an alternative way otherwise I better start looking for someone else.
