Disputing Charges with PayPal User

I was the victim of a fundraising scam. They asked me to donate a small amount and in addition to that they also charged a large amount to my card. I'm trying to stop it. The transaction happened on my credit card and not through my PayPal account. The card company said to go through PayPal first since that was where the charge was originated. Still in the pending stage. How would I go about filing a dispute of the charges since the transaction did not occur through my PayPal account?

This happened to me as well. I filed a police report in addition to disputing the charge. I was able to use the PayPal support chat function to report the user and open a dispute even though it was not a transaction on my PayPal account. Would recommend you do the same. Am wondering if it’s the same person/scam as this also happened to me yesterday. More people reporting the user may lead to PayPal cancelling the transaction.
