can I optain personal information of the buyer/seller from a dispute?

Hello,

After doing a quick search I noticed that the question that I'm about to answer has not been asked before. So I thought to post it here.

If a send a amount of money under the label "goods and services" and then I open a dispute claiming fraud. Can I see the personal information of the person that I'm filing a dispute at?

For example Name or Location or anything.

The reason that I'm asking this is because I have been recently targeted by advance fee scammers that request money through paypal. Because the spoofing their location using vpn and whatsapp I can't find where and who they are. So I though that one solution might be to send a small amount (50$) and then open a dispute to find additional information about them.

Would something like this be possible?

Thanks in advance

Kostas

Hi @dtrix34

Welcome to the PayPal Community.

If you send a payment to someone, you will see their full name/business name if they have a business account only.

I understand you are interested in seeing their location, this will not be visible to you, I am afraid.

I would not recommend sending money to an account you suspect of fraud as you may not be able to reclaim this money back. I can see from your messages you are concerned about a fraudulent account on PayPal. I assure you that PayPal takes this seriously and actively monitors accounts for suspicious activity. Any users found misusing PayPal Purchase Protection are subject to account limitations including termination of their PayPal account.

I hope this helps, have a nice day!

-Rebecca.
