Paypal suppports fraud

I was scammed by an online business www.tthme.com. When making payment through paypal, the sellers name apparently switched to a "friends and family" account which I didn't see or must have missed somehow. I ended up paying but never got a confirmation of order. I contacted PayPal and they said there the buyer protection doesn't apply, because it was a friend and family's account . Ok, I got that... I won't get my money back but what really upsets me is that PayPal doesn't do anything to prevent this in the future. It took me a long time to talk to the staff on the phone and explain her, that they should at least look into this and lock the recipients account. I was told they couldn't do anything - they don't have guidelines for dealing with that. She didn't let me speak to her supervisor either. She ended up putting me on hold for a while and then said that she had passed my request on but that I would not hear from them again. So I don't know whether she really passed it on or whether she just put me on hold while having a cup of coffee... In my opinion, PayPal is indirectly supporting fraud by providing a platform for scammers and not even caring about complaints that point to specific fraud cases. I would expect that from any reputable company. I no longer consider PayPal a reputable company.

I sent money to a person named Eliud [removed] and the total was $210.00 I sent it friends and family ,however I found out this person was a scammer ….and when I disputed the transactions I was sent an email from PAYPAL saying there was nothing fraudulent with the transactions…..I have tried to call PAYPAL numerous times and I get the constant run around….it appears that the senders get **bleep** and the scammers make out like fat rats ……I cannot believe that Pay Pal thinks fraud is ok but after I post this I will be deleting my account and I will make sure I let everyone I know that PayPal is not a legit or upstanding company….because if they were there would be some type of measure put in place so that people at least the honest ones who send money to a person to pay for events for their food truck as in my case …to be able to recover their STOLEN MONEY…..and I believe that Pay Pal should return the money to anyone who writes them to say the money they sent was to a scammer……signed a very unhappy no longer a customer of PAY PAL…..Ronald [removed]

Paypal gives you buyer protection, it was your choice to ignore that protection and send a ''gift'' of money using the friends/family option.

If you want protection and are not sending to a close mate or family member then don't select that option and use the goods/services instead.

yes they may give and offer protection, however if a buyer finds out it’s fraudulent on behalf of the party receiving the money was found to be a scammer and I dispute it there should be something in place where the account receiving the money should be red flagged especially when it was within an hour or so that I found it to be a Scam perhaps they should create an option such as a food vendor tab like they have goods and services……I’m not the only one that fraud was committed against and I’m sure I’m not going to be the last …..PayPal committed fraud on behalf of the scammer as well because I dispute their fees too…..

There was no fraud as you sent a ''gift'' of money to someone.

It would only be fraud if you sent a payment via goods/services and did not receive your item etc.

Paypal doesn't support fraud that is why they offer you the goods/services option with buyer protection.

However you supported the fraud by breaking paypal rules and sending a friends/family payment for a goods/services transaction, negating your buyer protection and enabling the 'seller' to evade paying their paypal fee.

Ah, so someone posts disagreeing with you and immediately you become insulting and accuse me of being on the payroll, WOW what a surprise  🤣

Sorry but if you don't CHECK during checkout and don't RISK ASSESS your transactions and then break paypal rules by using the friends/family option then why not be adult, accept YOU made a mistake and learn from it and move on.

I was scammed once, told myself off, moved on and learnt from it, I did not blame paypal or my credit card, I blamed myself for the mistake I made.
