PayPal will not issue refund

I purchased an item from GameStop. The item was defective. GameStop schedules a FedEx pick up to retrieve the item. Now they have the item and will not issue me a refund. I contact Paypal with the tracking number, pictures of the item being defective, I even submit a photo of the item being picked up by the FedEx driver! They keep closing my case and not giving any reason. GameStop is not cooperating. Now I am out $600 and NO ITEM. This is so frustrating. What is the point of buyer protection?? I provided all the necessary proof and no one can explain to me why they will not honor the claim. Are there any other options?

I am sorry this has happened and I can understand your frustration.
It sounds like we have made a final decision on this and will not be taking any further action I'm afraid. Remember though that our protection is just an extra layer of security. You still have all of your normal consumer rights and if you paid with a bank or card, your bank may also offer protection.
