Nice sent money. I shouldn't pay tax

My nice, who lives in Argentina came to visit. I live in the USA. She sent me Paypal money to buy stuff for her in advance of her trip. She didn't have the option to select "send money to family & friends". She had only one option, and she paid a fee. Paypal is asking me for my social security number as if I sold her some merchandise, which didn't happen. How do we solve this? I think I shouldn't pay any tax.
