How to shut down and still have access

Hello!

Is there any way to shut off my paypal account while still being able to see old transactions? I'm distressed because I feel like I am being ripped off and paypal is not doing anything to stop it. There was a reoccurring payment that I did NOT authorize and Paypal put the burden of proof on me instead of the company that ripped me off. Now I am concerned because, if I dispute with my credit card company, paypal could just pull money from my linked bank account. BUT if I close the paypal account, it says I will NEVER have access to my account information again. This is such a freaking mess and I am so disappointed in Paypal. I have been using it for a long time and never disputed anything. I thought they would have more integrity and protect me but I guess not. Any ideas about what to do?

Paypal can't set up recurring payments, if there is one in your subscriptions on your paypal account then only you could have clicked something on the merchants site and set it up unless you were hacked?

A lot of times what happens is people accept a free trial for a product, and forget to cancel and it auto renews. Be careful what you are accepting. Some merchants set things up so you have to tick a box to NOT subscribe rather than vice versa.

However to reassure you paypal cannot dip into your bank account without your authorisation. However if you have a negative balance then they can send any debt to debt collectors OR if you buy something and fund it from a bank account they can 'add' that debt on to your payment so you 'authorise' both debt and payment.
