I received the following email. I must stop this from being charged as I have never requested, nor I know this "eGift Card". I will call PayPal. I hope it is not too difficult/waiting time until Customer Service reply.
A $200. 00 charge has been made to your PayPal Pay Later Service to cover the price of Green Dot eGift Card. After 24 hours, this transaction will show up on the PayPal activity page. If you think you did not make this transaction, call us right away at [Removed. Phone #s not permitted] or visit the PayPal Support Center for assistance. Our Business Hours: (06:00 a. m. to 06:00 p. m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday)

You can learn how to spot and report fake PayPal emails on our Help Center. Please do not click on any links in the email. Log into your PayPal account by going to our website directly. If you did click on any links, please reset your password and security questions immediately. If you find an unauthorized transaction after logging into your PayPal account, you can report it through our website.

Thank you, Meghan. I did call that phone number. The person who replied asked me to write a webaddress [removed] which I did. Then he gave me a "code" composed by six numbers, which I entered in that page. The next page had an app that I was supposed to download. That's when I realized that the guy was not a Paypal rep but the very thief. I asked him how could he prove that he was a Paypal rep and he hang out the phone.
After that, I looked for the Paypal phone number in the Paypal website. I called, spoke to a real rep and she assured me that my account had not been compromised.
These people almost outsmarted me. I usually don't bother emails that are supicious, but this one came from the real Paypal customer service email, and it had a warning alert. Really sophisticated.
Fortunately it's all ok.
