Sandbox transaction status always shows "pending"

Others have posted about this but never got satisfactory answers. The answers posted said that the test was not sent to a registered Sandbox email. The people who posted replied that they indeed were registered Sandbox account emails, as are the three that I used. They all still say "pending." Will they ever change? Is this normal?
