I received an email from PayPal informing me that I will be paying VAT to the South African Revenue Services and that I have to add a VAT number. I am not registered for VAT as I do not earn more than the their limit, this refers: "When must you register for VAT in SA? It is compulsory for a person to register for VAT if the value of taxable supplies made or to be made, is in excess of R1million in any consecutive 12 month period".
