Hello,
I have recently bought something from ebay and unfortunately, the seller didn't have the item and send me a refund on the 26th of October. I have received an email from : "service(at)paypal.co.uk" stating that refund has been issued and in my paypal account the refund appears in history but the status is pending until xx of November
can you please tell me whats going on?
Thank you!

Depends how you funded your payment to the seller >
1. Debit card.
2. Instant bank transfer.
Depends how they funded the refund.>
1. Echeque.
2. Funds in their paypal balance.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Hi, I have recieved a email from PayPal saying I have been refunded in full from my purchase through Ebay. However my Paypal account is at £0.00 and in my History there is no transaction for the refund.

Hi cat65,
Welcome to the Community Forum!
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience however the reason why the refund takes a bit longer than we all would like to is because PayPal credit you to send the original payment. This means that PayPal sends money to the seller and then waits to receive funds from your bank. As a result when transaction is refunded, money first need to come to PayPal system to be returned.
To make sure you get refunds instantly you can make payments from your PayPal balance. The refund will be back in your balance within seconds.
Hope it clarifies the process a bit more.
Have a great day.
Anna

This answer is wrong. It may be innocently offered, but it is inaccurate. I always pay for items with my PayPal balance (not my credit card), but I also experience the long (6-7 business day) delay in receiving refund funds.
It's a PITA and frankly inexcusable, given than our payments go through instantaneously. There is no reason to hold the refunds up. Clearly PayPal is just scheming to make a few micro-pennies on the extra time they hold onto our funds.

According to what a Paypal customer agent states here, if I payed something using my funds (which I did) I should have got an inmediate refund... Well, this did not happen with my recent refunded transaction.
A seller in ebay sent a wrongly described item and I claimed a refund on the spot. I had used my balance funds to pay for this order. They "refunded" this purchase two days later (I sent the item back the same day) but it shows as pending since then...
What is the explanation here, please?
This is very frustrating, as if one rushes to pay and then send the item back, etc, the less one expects is to get a likewise prompt refund!
I need that money, 10 days average wait or more is not good enough, in the same way that such service does not seem to be good enough either, to frankly speak my mind.
Same speed to receive our money than to be charged our fees, that is what customers basically aim for.

Morning
I find this slightly misleading. I paid for goods via my PP account which when I received the goods weren't what was advertised. The seller agreed via the PP communication methods to issue a full refund and was happy to do this.
Since the refund was issued it has been "Pending" for around a week now and there is no sign of the refund being issued today. Rather frustrating as it was paid via my PP account.
Thanks.

You posted half-way through posts posted around 2013 so if you have a query best to start your own thread.

A seller can only issue a refund via funds in their paypal balance or an echeque.
So if its an echeque it has to clear through from the sellers bank account > paypal > and then it is credited to you and the hold lifted.
If it has ''disappeared'' then it could be that the echeque processing from the sellers bank account has failed due to insufficient funds???
If you don't get a cleared refund and then you can file a dispute for ''item received but not as described'' on your paypal summary page.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
