Monarch - managed to talk to Paypal here's how I did it

Hi,

Further to my earlier message I've managed to get through to a human being at PayPal who was very helpful.

To speak to someone:

1. Call the 0800 358791 number

2. Tell the automated voice you want to speak to Disputes and Claims

3. It will connect you directly or as in my case it may route you to General Customer Services and you will have to get them to connect you.

Hope this helps.

Or just open a paypal dispute as previously advised on other threads.

If you'd read my previous mail you realise that the problem was I was unable to raise a claim because the PayPal system was sendling me round in circles when I tried to raise a claim.

Your response is exteremely unhelpful to any one who is trying to resolve an issue because of Monarch going into administration. We're already frustrated try giving advic ethat will help.

Well others have managed to open disputes, just because you could not does not mean everyone has to phone customer services to do so.

So my advice is correct, instead of rushing to c.s. and hanging on waiting for ages, just go and see if you can open a dispute > escalate to a claim FIRST.

You may be ATOL protected?

Also you may still get compo from the liquidators.

You also 'may' still be covered if you paid via a c.c. but you would need to be quick to do a chargeback.

HERES A RUN DOWN OF THE ADVICE BEING GIVEN  >>>

Booked a package holiday? Anyone who booked a package holiday gets Atol protection - meaning you are legally guaranteed a refund - however this doesn't apply in the case of people booking flights and accommodation separately.

Flight only? If you are not covered by the Atol scheme, you should also contact your credit card company or travel insurer. If you have travel insurance, check your policy for the phrase "airline failure".

No travel insurance? You may also be able to claim your money back depending on how you paid. If your booking cost was between £100 and £30,000 and any of it was paid for on your credit card you may be able to make a claim under section 75 Consumer Credit Act.

"In travel, it only works when you book direct, but that’s fine for those who paid Monarch on a credit card, as long as the cost is over £100. So get in touch with the credit card firm and ask them to make a ‘Section 75’ claim (and use the name) for any costs not received," said MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis.

If successful, your credit card will refund your money.

Paid with debit card or bank transfer? Section 75 will not apply to debit cards but you can take advantage of the chargeback scheme. You must contact the card provider within 120 days.

"While it’s not a legal protection like Section 75, this is a core protection in Visa, Mastercard and American Express’ rules and it can swiftly help people get their money back," said Lewis.

PayPal? Contact them and claim via their buyer protection scheme. You must do this within 180 days. Go and click on 'resolve a problem' lower left of your paypal summary page and open a dispute in the resolution centre.
