I paid for a return flight on Monarch via Paypal on 3rd Jan 2017.  As it is over 180 days am I unable to make a claim?  I cannot get through to anyone in Customer Services to ask as the automated system does not cover this query.

You can't open a paypal dispute post 180 days.

You could try your credit card if you funded your paypal payment that way BUT most of them have a cut off time around the 6 months period.

You also have the option of the small claims court if you were entitled to a refund but did not get one.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I booked my flight back in July will I get a refund through PayPal? It gets paid through my debit card so credit card protection isn't an option.

Same here. I tried to log a dispute but all that does is send an email to Monarch. I can't see that being answered. I'm trying to find out how to place a claim through PayPal but it hasn't raised a dispute, so I can't see how to make it a claim!

Same here. Tried to set up a dispute so that I can advance it to a claim but dispute won't show up so can't escalate it. Any help would be appreciated as I am close to the 180 days and have had to pay out double what I paid monarch to get another flight booked!

Phone in the evening around 7pm and hang on till they answer. It is not so busy and eventually you will get through. When the automated system asks what you want. Keep saying. ' speak to an agent.' You will then be put through eventually to a real person.

Also booked in Feb so over 180 days claim. I have read this on a website www.moneysavingexpert.com Some Monarch customers have found they're unable to make a claim through Paypal because the deadline for its protection has passed - normally you can only claim within 180 days of purchase. Paypal's since told us it's waiving that deadline for some as a "goodwill gesture", but if you still have problems you could try chargeback. Several banks have told us they are accepting chargeback claims from PayPal customers, as long as you purchased the flight less than 540 days ago. Let's hope we are all 'some' of the people

I raised my case with PayPal on Monday. And tonight I've received an email saying they have recovered my funds and it's been refunded to my PayPal. I paid through PayPal on my debit card.

Can I ask how you managed to raise your case as this seems to be my major problem? Did you do it through resolution centre or did you phone them?. I paid with my debit card through them as well so this sounds hopeful. Thank you.

I phoned PayPal and the advisor would not open a case as booking was over 180 days ago so I messaged them via their Message Centre and they opened the case. No guarantee I'll get a refund but worth a try.
