I cancelled an 'unclaimed' payment. How long will it take for the money to return to my account?

I paid for an item on ebay, however the seller hadn't set up their paypal account properly so the money was temporarily held and marked as 'unclaimed'.
After several messages to the seller and two weeks later, I decided to cancel the pending payment earlier today. The action is marked as 'completed', however my paypal balance is still £0.00.
Does anyone know how long this usually takes to go through?
Thanks 🙂

Hi there Rozij,
There are a few different possibilities as to why your PayPal balance is showing £0.00 GBP after you have cancelled the payment. If the payment is processing from your bank account, it will be on hold until it completes processing from your bank (Between 5 and 7 working days after the payment was sent) and then the funds will be credited to your PayPal account.
If you sent the payment from a credit/debit card, we will transfer the refund directly back to the card that you used to make the purchase. This takes on average between 3 and 5 working days but depending on your bank or credit cards processing timeframes, can take up to 30 calender days to appear.
You can try to get more information on this by clicking the 'History' icon on your PayPal account. From here, you can then click the 'All Activity with Balance' icon. This will show a complete breakdown of your recent transactions and you should see the payment being cancelled. You may also wish to click here in order to see the different statuses of cancelled/refunded payments.
I hope this information helps,
David.

I found this topic on google, sorry if its a little outdated. I have recently tried to pay for an item on ebay with my skrill master card and the seller was not revieving his funds and time was short so i cancelled the transaction and wanted to pay via my Visa card because it went a lot faster. So now i cancelled the transaction and paypal is showing that the transaction cancelling is complete. But no funds have still been returned to my skrill account, how long will this take?
Thanks in advance

When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal credit the seller for you and then start the process of uploading your funds to paypal from your funding source.
This is done so you get your item more quickly.
So when you cancel that payment (as the seller can't accept it), those funds can't do a u-turn > they have to process through to paypal who will then either return them to your funding source (if you paid with a debit or credit card), or credit your paypal balance (if it was funded from your balance or instant bank transfer), but that takes a few days and sometimes up to a week.
