I purchased an item of clothing through a selling site called depop so have messages of evidence to show I'd been an item and paid through PayPal. Stupidly, I paid through friends and family not goods and services and I'm pretty sure the guy is scamming me as he isn't replying to my messages and hasn't sent the item but has taken the money I sent. I realised I have messed up and am not really covered but is there anyway I can get the money back?

Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

This happened to me when I advertised for something on Gumtree. A guy replied and I paid £30 by Paypal but inadvertently chose the wrong option . .No goods arrived ..lots of excuses and now no replies to emails. I can't start a dispute because I picked the wrong option .
I contacted Paypal and here is what they did .Sent him an email asking him to refund but also told me that as the payment was made by a Direct Debit I could invoke the DD Guarantee so dunno if that will work ..I'll try it if he doesn't refund .
