How long does it take for funds to be placed in the account after the Tempory Hold has been released?

Better yet- how long does it take for a temporary hold to be released? I have had a refund on hold for several days now and having read other forum replies, the answer seemed to be that the hold would be released as soon as the original payment cleared my bank account and that the funds would be IMMEDIATELY placed into my paypal account.

Payment cleared the bank account yesterday and hold is still in place with no added funds to my paypal account.

Now what?

Oh, and how about maybe not marking a refund "completed" if the recipient hasn't received their money yet?

And maybe when you click the "details" link next to an event item, that it actually provides details as to the transaction item, ie, why there's a hold placed, resolution time frame, etc?

Thank you for the info. PayPal just isn't clear to me and apparently others on the status of money on hold, or whatever.

Don't thank me yet- that was just infor from one of the mods in another thread (Paypal_Olivia, maybe?) and it has yet to be proven true to me.

Now two days since funds cleared my bank and were removed and the refund amount has yet to be placed in my Paypal account, hold still in place.

I have also noticed that mods here tend to not answer all questions or topics. What is the deal there? Even a canned answer with links to other solutions would be great, as I know that they probably don't have access to user paypal accounts or have knowledge of every transaction..

So confusing and alittle irritating to be honest.... I hope to get the money soon... This whole issue has toaught me not to order until the money is there and to NOT cancel a transaction through paypal....

It is frustrating, indeed.

In my particular instance, I accidentally paid an individual with using an uninteded payment method and asked them to refund it to me so I could pay them with the intended payment method. He did so, and I made the intended payment. These three transactions took place in the span of MAYBE ten-fifteen minutes and here I am waiting days to get my money back from the first payment.

What doesn't make any **bleep** sense is the fact that there never is a problem for your money to be taken. Only a problem for an individual to get their money back.

Hi all,

There's some information here that answers your questions about temporary holds on refunds:

My long-winded post in another thread.

As you can see, I referred to your response in one of my posts above.

Are you essentially referring back to that to say that even though the money for my initial payment cleared my bank and was withdrawn, it hasn't actually cleared my bank? Or that Paypal is still waiting two days later to receive an electronic transfer from my bank?

Also, I remember reading that Paypal makes payments to recipients ahead of the money clearing the paying party's bank "in good faith" so that the payee doesn't have to wait for the money. Why, then, can Paypal not put money into a member's account who has been a member and in good standing for SEVERAL years in lieu of waiting for the original payee's refunded money to transfer? Seems that there is a huge logic disparity here that only results in frustrated and angry customers.
