I'm a little ticked atm.
I bought something and had it refunded the next day and noticed that while the money sure has been taken out of my bank account, I have yet to recieve it back.
I did some research and apparently it can take anywhere between 7-30 days for my refund to go through?
What on earth paypal?
I need my money, why does it get held so long? There is no issue taking it away from me, so give it back already.
This just seems rather ridiculous.

Talked with my attorney this afternoon.
PayPal is required by law to put the funds back into your bank account if requested to do so.
You have the right to take legal action (they'd lose..and wind up paying the legal fees as well)

I have the same situation. I had a unauthorized payment taken from my bank account which has cleared and it still is not showing it in my paypal account. How long did it take for yours to show up in the paypal account.

When I finally got thru to a Paypal customer service person, I was told that Paypal uses any refund you might get to pay for any further Paypal purchases you make. Therefore, a lesser or no refund. If you look in your account and see there is a balance, you must "withdraw" that amount to your bank account. Maybe this will help you. I was and am still very frustrated. Couldn't find an answer online. The "withdraw" (click on the tab) to my bank account took a couple of days. Good luck to you. (Sorry if this is a repeat of what I already posted.)

If you go to your history and click to view "All activity (with balance)" you will be able to see, line by line, each credit and debit in your account and its effect on the balance. That helps when you're trying to figure out whether the funds you were refunded went to another purchase or not.
Also, when making purchases, always review the confirmation page. It will tell you where the funds are coming from to make the transaction. If you see it tell you that all or a portion of the funds are coming from the balance, you can cancel the payment and withdraw the funds first if you don't want to use them for that purchase (like if you are using a credit card, for instance.)
I hope this helps!

They lie, my $200 purchase on 2/19 came out of my bank account on 2/19, no delay, no 3-5 days later. They said they front the money til it clears, that's BS. I returned the item within 2 hours of the purchase, but still no refund. They say it takes 3-5 business days for a refund. That makes no sense, since the payment came out so quick they should be able to transfer it back just as quick.

You're not alone.
Had Pay Pal told me this (or included it in a disclaimer on line) I'd never have opened an account.
I'm out well over $100,
Pay Pal has this money and..according to the States Att, Generals Office here in Buffalo, I may be waiting till **bleep** freezes over for the $$
Yeah, they've had that many issues with stalled refunds.
Word to the wise.
Make sure what you are buying is what you want and is in as described condition because.....
You'll be a long time getting your money back thru Pay Pal.

This is rediculous. I am now out 795.00!!! I am going to be contacting my Attorney General's office tomorrow. The day I made the payment, the money was taken out of my bank account via my debit card. I received my item the next day. The day after that (two days after my original payment) my item was returned and my paypal says my refund was COMPLETED. OK, so where is it??? This is rediculous. What is paypal doing with MY 795.00?????

Hi sarahmallory, and welcome to the forums!
I can definitely understand the panic that comes with being unable to immediately locate such a large amount of money. I'd recommend a couple of steps to check for your refund before assuming it's missing.
Since you used a debit card, the refund would go to one of two places. It would either go to your balance, or it would have been sent back to your card. If it went to your balance, it would either still be in your balance, or it could have been used to fund any subsequent payments. Try the following things:
- Go to your History, and leave the view as "All activity". Set the search date back to before the initial payment, and search. Find the original payment, and click the plus sign next to the payment. There should be a line that shows the refund. If the funds were sent back to your card, there will also be a line that shows that.
If the funds were sent back to your card, check with your bank. It may take them a few days to update their records. Some card issuers can take up to a full billing cycle, but that is rare. Most have it showing in 24-48 hours.
2. If the funds were not sent back to the card and they are not showing in the balance, switch your History view to "All activity (with balance)" and then set the search date back to before the initial payment again. Find the initial payment and scroll upward until you find the refund. Are there any purchases that happened after the refund was made? If so, you'll see that reflected in the running balance.
Please let us know what you find!
