Is there a way to protect the buyer as well as the seller in transactions over $5,000?

I am looking into buying a $5000 watch on eBay but am afraid of sending the item and not receiving the item. The seller has about 300 feedback ( only one other recent $1500 sale) so I am a little concerned about sending $5000 and if I do not receive the watch how will I get my money back. I know you can start a claim, but what if the seller does not have the $5000 to refund Papal back. Would I still receive my refund? Is there a way to put the money in escrow with Papal so that the seller knows the money is there and once watch is received then the funds can be released? I was just trying to figure out what I can do so that if I send $5000 I truly have "buyer protection" Please advise.

PayPal holds the money in a pending balance until you leave positive feedback for him.

He can't touch the money otherwise or until 21 days.

Be sure your not ordering from Hong Kong, those take well over 21 days, then dispute would be useless.

You're safe 😉  You're in PayPal's Hands, Hehe.

Thank you for the information. I did not know that it remains pending and gives you 21 days to receive the item. With so many scams I was worried. I wanted seller to know that they had the funds but I also wanted to be assured that I would get the item. Smiley Happy

Looking forward to getting the item. Thank you
