Okay, starting an Etsy shop.
I put in my preferred method of getting paid (Paypal), I put in the email address linked with my Paypal account, I verified my Premier Paypal account, now am I good to go?
It sounds kinda dense, but it seems like there would be more steps than the above...are there?
(I know that when I actually list items, the shipping info needs to be entered in Paypal, but I'm not that far in the process)

I got no answers on this one, so I just jumped in with two feet and hoped for the best, which I recommend!
I had two sales, and sorta figured out how it works:
When you make a sale, Paypal charges the buyer your selling price plus the shipping amount you have entered on Etsy (you don't have to enter shipping on Paypal). So yes, as long as the email addresses match up, you're good! Now, if you're like me, this seems WAY too simple, but that's really all there is to it!
I was a little dense because I thought the money from the sale went directly into your bank account (!). It doesn't... you do have to transfer it from Paypal to your bank (with a few clicks)...duh.
One Etsy issue: if you use parcel post (cost determined by zone), instead of flat rate shipping, then the shipping cost you enter into your Etsy listing is really an estimate (cause you don't know where the item is going). The only way around this seems to be stating in your "Policies" that all shipping quotes are estimates, and offering refunds if your quote was over by, say, more than $2.00. Seems easy enough to do refunds on Paypal, just go to the invoice for that sale and click "issue refund."
Good luck, I know what hard work it is!

Sure wish I could help! I'm in the same boat, but I didn't know about paypal being setup with shipping charges! I put in my shipping charge manually with etsy and I just assumed as long as my e-mail address was the same at both places I was good to go. Now I really don't know what to do. It's frustrating searching everywhere to find answers; I just get more confused! I'd sure hate to mess up my first sale by messing up shipping charges. You are definitely not dense...or else I'm REALLY dense! LOL!!!
I hope you get some replies because I could use the same kind of help. I probably should have not listed anything until I was totally sure about everything, but there is just so much to learn and when I was setting myself up on etsy it just sounded like as long as I had a paypal account all would work fine. And it made it sound like you just go through their steps and you're set up and ready to sell. Which is what I did.
Thanks so much for this post...I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for replies!

Wow~it's really that easy? I am so glad that you wrote back! Especially since I just noticed the date of your post! You wrote that a long time ago! Thanks so much for replying. And congratulations on making a sale! I did e-bay for a VERY short time, and from that I learned about how money gets into my bank account, but I think since paypal and e-bay are tied together in a way, they make it so much easier when you're doing e-bay. My experiences there weren't good, so I vowed never to do anything like that again...and here I am starting an etsy store! LOL!!!
I put my prices in for priority flat-rate mail just so I'd be much closer in price. On e-bay I really **bleep**ed myself by not charging enough for shipping. Of course if someone doesn't want priority and sends me a convo about it, then I'll be able to change it for that person if they write before the sale. I did sign up for US sales only, but someone recommended that I do worldwide because I'm really limiting myself. If I sell some of my stuff, then maybe I'll change it, but for now I really don't want to mess with it.
Thanks again for the reply~ I was worrying about whether it was going to work or if I had something else I had to do on the paypal end of things. I wish you all the best!

You don't need 'Buy it Now' button it on Etsy , because they provide the cart. All you need to do is have the email that's associated with your Etsy match the one for your Paypal account. I believe "Buy it now" is for independent websites, and probably Ebay b/c it's an auction site.

Willamina!
Your terrific, Thank you. You were right then about the whole "Jump right in" statement. That makes things really easy then. Just start listing in Etsy like crazy after the first listing to tie the Etsy, and PayPal accts together, and not worry about added changes to the PayPal acct. I Love it! I've looked for answers here and Etsy, and you've provided the 1st definetive answer.
Thankyou again very much,
jimij

Thank you for your awesome answers and encouragement, Willamina! It looks like you got quilterbridget and jimji on track even though you're new to this, too. I love to see that. Keep at it! I wish success to all three of you!
