How to see REST API purchase unit items in account transaction

After switching to use the PayPal REST API with createOrder() and capturePayment(), our payment notification email does not contain any of the item details sent to PayPal in the purchase unit items, and the email is now being sent to a different email address. The purchase unit items do not show up when viewing the transaction in our PayPal account either. We need the details in order to manage the purchase. Is there any way to control which email is used to send the payment notification?
