Paypal Credit Cashback Card Extras - Error when Applying

Hello!

I had a PayPal Extra Mastercard Credit that "fell" off my account in 2022. I am trying to get the card again but everytime I try to apply I get the below error.

I called PayPal, they said it is a Synchrony Bank issue.

When I call Synchrony, they say its a PayPal issue and that they don't have the permissions to view the cards associated on my account - which I totally understood and figured since they are separate entities.

** The card does not show under my "Wallet" in my account since it was closed and would have no balance.

So im not sure what to really do, I suppose I could create a new PayPal account entirely and apply on that but would be nice to have on my normal account along with my PayPal Credit.

Any other ideas?

Looks like you already have a PayPal Mastercard or Smart Connect

You can only have one PayPal Mastercard or Smart Connect at a time, so we can't offer you another one today.

Same issue. I had an Extras Mastercard but wanted the Cashback Mastercard. Per Paypal customer service, you can only have one of their credit cards open and there is no way to convert the cards other than to close the Extras, wait a month, and then reapply for the Cashback. I did so and closed the Extras card in 12/2023. It's been 2 months and I get this same error that won't let me apply. PayPal and Synchrony Bank keep transferring me back and forth to different departments, saying it's the other company's problem.pp.PNG

Not sure if this helps, but... One of the times I called PayPal, they noticed that the credit card was not in my wallet as expected. However, I explained the error I was getting, and they finally created a support ticket. Five days later, I was able to apply for the cashback card, but I never heard back on the support ticket. Not sure if they truly did something or if it was just timing.

The support at both companies isn't great, as we know. When I call Synchrony, they flat out tell me it's just closed, nothing they can do. However, when I call again and get someone different, they give a completely different response, willing to help, check a few things out, and actually try. It's pretty much the same thing with PayPal; the last person I talked to actually tried and escalated it. In previous calls, I was told it's not there, so it's not their problem, and that's all they could do. I don't get it; it just depends on who you get when you call, unfortunately...
