Problem Sending Money: Link Account

I've been trying to send money to my landlord and have encountered a bunch of problems. I have already added my bank account to my profile, and am trying to send the money. The first time I did this, it approved the amount of money and I had the screen to 'send the money now.' However, I chose to go back and check on something and had to repeat the process again. When I hit the exact same buttons and the same choices, I kept getting the message that I needed to link a debit or credit card to complete the transaction. I thought this could be an error with the amount, so I tried sending just a dollar--and got the same error to link a debit card. I tried this on the mobile app on my iPad and my iPhone, and the message was the same. I am getting an entirely different error on the Desktop site--I need to add an entirely new payment method entirely. I already linked a bank account, so why should I make a difference? I am very frustrated and have been trying to figure this out for a while now. Thank you in advance for any tips or help you can give

When the system does this, its asking for a credit/debit card as back up to your bank payment so that PayPal can do an 'instant bank payment': PayPal pays ahead to the recipient and then awaits your bank payment to clear or charge your card if bank account ends up being insufficient.
Otherwise, the payment will go as an eCheck which will take several days to clear. I don't know why the system doesn't just do an eCheck like the first time (if you don't have a card linked), but that's just how their algorithm works I guess. Its wanting to do an instant bank payment now. Maybe back out, wait an hour and try again to see if it'll let you do an eCheck.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you for your response! So I did what you said and added a card, but I'm still experiencing some problems-- I can't transfer even $50 to someone on the mobile app without it asking me to link another card. I'm confused by this because this doesn't seem like a very high amount of money and not being able to send an amount of $50 on the mobile app seems to defeat the purpose of having it? There is also a discrepancy between this and what I can send on the Desktop platform. When I put in $999.99 to send to a friend, it didn't ask me to link another card, but the fee was close to $30. I am getting frustrated because there just seem to be so many limits and restrictions on how much money I can send/which fees apply/and even what platform I try to do it on, even though all the accounts are the same, and I can't seem to find an answer to these questions or reason for these discrepancies anywhere. Do you have any idea why this is happening or how I could go about fixing it? Thank you for your help again!
