ebay will not accept payment by paypal

Tried to pay transaction and option to pay using paypal not available.  

Can anyone tell me why?  Does this mean that paypal is now defunct?

Ebay are gradually bringing in their own payment system so i don't think sellers have to use paypal anymore.

If your seller is using ebays system then it may not be offered as a payment option.

I think you are right.  I looked back at the item and it did say that Paypal was an option to pay.  Since then I have paid several items via my usual account with no problem.  Just a silly glitch I suppose.  

I don't want to have to abandon Paypal and set up another payment account with ebay.

I too have been refused a PayPal payment as a buyer on eBay. Same issue,the seller said they accepted PayPal payments but transaction would not accept PayPal as a payment? Not sure if eBay can legally do this.
