Why is the refund coming back to me in a different currency?

I sent 200 USD but accidentally converted it to BRL.

The refund is apparently going to be in BRL rather than USD. Isn't a refund supposed to be a reversal of a recent charge or transaction?

Help me here. I'm feeling lost.
