Spaces in email address

Every time when sending money between friends with an email address included in payment note, there are spaces after every dot (.) in there.

E.g. "your. friend@gmail. com".

Is it a feature or a bug? How to get rid of that?

I reckon it might be a security feature (if not a bug) if the email address is added in the Note field so that it is not active when note appears in the payment transaction details as one can usual click on the PayPal email address of sender/recipient in the payment transaction details.
