Refund to a cancelled card/account

Hi, I'm about to receive a refund from a transaction made more than a year ago, the problem is that the card used for the payment doesn't exist anymore, and the account linked to the card is cancelled.

Is it possible to transfer the refund to another card/account or maybe keep the amount as Paypal credits?

Sellers can only use the 'refund' option up to 180 days post payment.

After that they would have to 'send' a refund to your paypal account balance.

You haven't said what country you are in so can't advise further at the moment.

Hi @kernowlass, thank you for your reply...

I'm in Spain, and the refund is regarding to an event that would happen in Portugal last year, and was postponed due the pandemic, and now was finally cancelled. They informed that the refund would be made in middle June/2021.

If you paid via paypal (and not as a guest buyer) then they would need to 'send' a payment to your paypal account, so make sure they use the friends/family option and give them your paypal email address for them to send you your euros.
