Refund offer denied due to paypal balance

I sold a vintage item to a guy and he wanted a partial refund, but I think I'll do a full return and refund. Either way, when I sent him an offer I got this message repeatedly.

"The refund amount is greater than your current PayPal balance. Please link a credit or debit card to send the refund."

I have a credit card linked to my account. How can I fix this? I want to make an offer asap but it doesn't go through.

One more thing. The amount he paid was 780 and what I received is 745.38 after fees and I want to offer to pay 745.38 because I think it's his responsibility not to examine the pictures carefully. If I offer him 745.38, does he receive the total after the fee, which may be around 710?

This is going so annoying, so I'd greatly appreciate if you guys can help!!

Hi @Juntae,

I'm sorry that the refund transaction is not allowing the card you have linked to fund the remainder of the refund payment. That may be due to a few reasons. If you wait a full day or more before trying again without any attempts in between, it may work at that point. If it does not, I would suggest calling customer service for troubleshooting.

If you want to offer a partial refund, you could refund the amount that you received after fees were deducted. If it's sent through the refund option, the buyer will receive whatever amount you indicate. No further fees will be deducted. The only time further fees would be deducted would be if you sent the refund as a new payment, which is not advisable if the refund option is available.

I hope this helps!
