Payment Declined but Authorization still attempted, showing as pending

Hey Community, I attempted to make a purchase through Gamestop.com, paying with my Paypal cash balance. As soon as I clicked place order, gamestop sent me to the “payment was declined please try another form of payment or call customer service” page. So now even though the payment was immediately declined, the full amount of the order was still subtracted from my PayPal balance, and is showing as a pending authorization. I received no receipt, order number, or email for reference from gamestop (as the order was never “placed”). Is this normal for declined orders to show as pending / authorization? I assumed the instant decline would kickback to PayPal, and the order wouldn’t show on my account at all. I’m a bit concerned. Any ideas on what happened? Thanks for any help.

I'm having the exact same problem. Thought I was doing a good thing by getting my son a gift card for PS4 and now an hour on hold with Gamestop with confidence they'll have no idea what to do. A company this big should have its stuff together. Shame on PayPal for allowing it. I've got screenshots of the decline which should be enough evidence to let my hard earned money go. Unreal.

Bump. I have the exact same problem. $62 stuck on authorization for over a week now. Order never went fully through, so there's no order number or any record of an order being placed. Anyone figured this out yet?

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I bought a switch game that was on sale for $18 through Paypal and it put an authorization hold on my Paypal for the amount, with no confirmation email or anything to be found. I emailed them, but knowing Gamestop (even me, i work for them) they probably won't get back to me. Really really frustrating.

Unveliabeable reading this tread. Bunch of people having exactly the same issue and neither of these big corporations do anything to sort out the issue.
Like all of you, I also got my payment declined for a PlayStation gift card, money was"charged" on PayPal but the transaction never happened so now I have 60 USD frozen on "pending" status.
Customer support is nowhere to be seen...

Did anyone figure this out? Will the pending charge at least be removed after 30 days? I assume this will be taken care of, but like everyone else I’m frustrated. Same thing happened to me 04/14/20. Tried to get a GameStop gift card for $200, said it was declined, and I’ve had the pending charge ever since.

I placed an order with Verizon on 4/17/20. Two days latter I receive an e-mail from them saying there was an error with the paypal payment and I would need to resubmit payment. Went through the process to pay and when I clicked on the link to return to Verizon to complete the transaction it tried to send me to a bogus site, my browser pop up stating it was an unsecure, dangerous site. I ended up finishing my order with a credit card.  I've tried to get a hold of PP customer service with no luck. Think maybe they have a security issue. My account shows payment pending but no way to cancel it.

I’m having the same issue. Did they resolved it? Did they give your money back?

yes, it was resolved. Seems like GameStop never approved nor denied the transaction so it stayed in the "limbo" for over a month.
Funny enough, when I checked my Paypal activity, there were absolutely no signs that this transaction ever happened.
but well... money is back and Im happy. Stay away from GameStop anyway.

@ecofusion

Hello,

So please, if your problem was resolved, can you please give me some more details? I did a paiment yesterday, I tried 2 times, so now i have 41 dollars 2 times, it took it from my credit card, though it still in paypal i think. Now if you can please tell me how much did it take so it gets your money back? And how? Does it put it directly to your credit card back or it puts it into your paypal wallet, or do I have to confirm something? If you see any other detail to mention, please do so.

Thank you.
