No money In bank for paypal

I made some transactions via PayPal with the intention of having money in my account by the time PayPal take it, unfortunately that has not gone to plan so what happens if there is no money in the account for the registered cards? Does balance go into negative and I pay it off? Also is it possible PayPal could take the payment from my PayPal credit?

If the transaction is declined then your seller won't be paid.

If paypal do go ahead and pay your seller then they will put your account into negative and try a few more times to try and get the money from your funding source, if you don't pay it off in a short period of time then they will pass it on to a debt collection agency and limit your paypal account.

However they will also probably remove the funding source that failed and you won't be able to use that again to fund payments and if you make a habit of it then they will ban your account.

Thanks for the reply The seller has already had the money, that’s the thing I don’t like about PayPal ... you can spend money even if you haven’t got it in your account so long as your debit card is linked. What would you class as a short period of time? I have 2 cards linked to my PayPal but neither account has money in, that’s why I was wondering if they could take it from my PayPal credit because I have a £5000 limit there? Then PayPal will be paid I’ll just pay off the credit

Hi @Lee139,

Regrettably, there's no option to pay your PayPal balance off with your PayPal Credit account. This would need to be paid by a bank account or card not related to PayPal itself. Hopefully the issue is resolved soon!
