How do retailers send money to your paypal

Merchant asked me to give them my PayPal address to receive a refund. Do I give them my email or username?

The proper way to refund is for the merchant to look up and click on the original transaction and click the “Refund this payment” button to reverse the payment. If the refund is being issued beyond 180 days from original transaction date then the seller should refund by sending a friends and family payment to your PayPal email address.

Provide PayPal email address, date of original transaction date, name on the PayPal account so they can look up the transaction.

What you don’t want and to be aware of is the seller sending a refund as a separate as goods and services payment because they can dispute the money back if they are sketchy. 

If the merchant refunded the proper way, you will see a refund transaction on the Activity page and a reference to the refund transaction within the original transaction.
