False "Invalid expiration date" error message

I recently had a transaction on my paypal appear to go through my bank. Unfortunately i had insufficient funds to pay for the transaction and was hit with a fee from my bank. I cancelled the subscription however days later was hit with a retry payment fee again. I'm confused as to what's going on because paypal says the transaction was paid. I'm assuming it was not paid and would like to add a credit card to my account to pay for the service but paypal will not allow me due to it giving me a "invalid expiration date" message when doing so. My card expires this month at the end of the month so i don't understand why i'm getting this error message.

Hi @Ahpino,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community Forum!

When you pay using your bank account, in fact, PayPal anticipates the amount and charges you later. Sometimes, it might happen that when we try to charge your bank account; which usually happens around 7 days after the date of the purchase, the payment does not get through and when this happens, we would try to charge an alternative payment method such as, for example, your card or your balance. If the charge to your bank has failed, you should have received an email with more information. Also, if the transaction has been completed, you can check the transaction details to see which funding source has been used.

I hope this helps.
