ECheque Refund Still Pending

Hi, so I won an item on eBay that was for Local collection, I messaged the seller and asked for their address for collection, 2 days later they said that I had to pay via Paypal first before they would give the address (usually I would pay cash on collection) , so I paid on the 20th. I then waited 2 days for them to message their address and then things kept getting silly trying to arrange collection as they took forever to reply so by the time they did the times/dates I offered had passed etc... In the end I gave up and asked them for a refund, they fobbed me off so on the 30th I opened a case on eBay and they sent me a refund, via echeque!! I am sitting here very annoyed with the eCheque still pending on my account!! Ebay email said by the 8th (today) and Paypal email said it should clear on or around the 5th. What happens if it doesn't clear? I initially sent an instant payment from my card but the refund says to my balance.

Transfers from bank accounts are never instant, that is why when you buy something paypal credit the seller upfront for you and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer to pay them back again, this is so you get your item without delay.

Takes several working days to transfer as Paypal use the slowest (cheapest) transfer option BUT funds normally leave your bank account from a few hours up to a few days later.

However paypal don't refund in advance so its you that has to take the wait and sellers can ONLY refund from cleared funds in their paypal balance OR from their bank account via echeque.
