Can't pay with balance on ebay

Hiya, I made a PayPal account today because I want to buy something on ebay, so I added money to my balance but when I want to pay on ebay, it's still asking for my credit card information. Why is this?

Because paying with PayPal balance requires a card as back up. This is a risk management measure of the PayPal checkout system I'd imagine.

Once you add or select a card as back up, and complete the transaction, on the transaction details it will say "Paid by PayPal Balance (or PayPal Cash/Cash Plus Balance) backed by Card XXXX". After a couple days, it will change to "Paid by PayPal Balance (or PayPal Cash/Cash Plus balance)" if you had enough in the balance to pay. There may be a temporary charge on the card and released once the balance is used.
