All the sudden sending via bank Friend and family wants to send as echeck

For years now I have made multiple monthly payments for rent and other expenses using PayPal. All of a sudden every time I try to send using my bank it wants to send as an e-check. Has been wanting to do that for 2 months now. I have been doing cash payments instead but just wondering why all of a sudden PayPal would change this? Really annoying. I also wanted to use debit as I know that would be instant but fees are crazy. Any insight would help as PayPal customer service hasn't been able to give me a clear answer.

From my chat with Paypal, they stated that it is the security system doing it and that if I proceed with an e-check it would go back to normal as long as it clears. Well, I did multiple e-checks, they cleared successfully, but no change at all.

Any help would be great!

Normally payments from bank accounts are never instant, paypal credits the recipient upfront and paypal takes the bank transfer wait for clearance.
But there are times you take the wait and then an echeque is issued. This is because the echeque option is FREE so paypal use the slower cheaper transfer option.

Reasons for an issued echeque are...
1. Card needs updating.
2. Recent neg balance.
3. Recent failed bank transfer.
4. High cost payment.
5. High risk transaction.
6. Friends / family payments....funded from a bank account.
