Hi Folks

I have some news updates for those of you who are trying to use the Star printer with PPH. Well, you won't be able to as despite saying it is compatiable with PPH, it isn't.

I have tried it on a Apple i-Pad and it does appear to connect but you will have alter the settings in the printer. However I have tried the i-Zettle app and the printer connects strait away with Android or i-Pads. You will need to change the settings in the printer set-up modes between Bluetooth Mode or Bluetooth iAP. The latter been for Apple set up's. I suspect PPH was originally  for Apple hardware and by the looks of the bits you can get for PPH this is true.

I have been on the phone to several people at PPH and they are going to do someting about it with a bit of luck despite knowing about the problem for a few months. If like me you tried i-zettle you might be tempted to move over to them, i'll give PPH a few weeks to get the problem resolved before I dump PPH for i-zettle. It is a shame as it all works well except for the printer where you really need to give your customers a reciept which is requirment if you are PCI-DSS registered.

I will keep you up to date, but in all honesty I shouldn't be doing the runnng around. The moderators on here should be working harder and passing this messages to senior managers. If it was my company knowing it had a fault I would be in a panic and get it sorted!!

Hi

I have basically given up and gone back to using the PDQ from my bank. The whole thing has turned into a fiasco with technical support. I have had about eight emails from different tech support people at PPH all giving conflicting information. It all cumminated going back to square one today with someone totally different asking the same question only then saying the Star 220i is not compatable with Android.... It really is case of "I told you so" but as I only know to well with technical support they only want to hear what they want to hear and not what you are saying to helpt them out as they know all. Well they dont in this case.

The crux of the issue is that PPH on Android is NOT compatible with the Stat 220i printer despite the website saying it does. I just get the impression that this PPH app was hastily patched together from a app that was orignally meant for Apple products. Well there are people (a lot of people) who use Android and won't touch Apple with a bargepole.

I would do to I-Zettle but their customer support is non existent and useless and is all done by email. That is the point, it's a shame that the people at PPH can't sort themselves out with what is a simple application but you need to stop pandering to the Apple freternity. I have tried to help but there just isn't the right support or assistancce. You really need to go back to the drawing board and sort the issues and problem out for what is otherwise a really good product. I will keep PP but only for selling and buying trinkets on Ebay. As for PPH, I gave it a go but was let down by poor back up and misleading information....
