really, paypal website should have an immediate live help chat...

Anyway, I was told paypal could provide a one time credit card for online purchasing.  Say you debit  50.00 from your bankaccount and then you get a temporary credit card # for 50.00.  How do I do that?

Paypal should use words like one time credit card...can't seem to find it.

Apparently this is available through the firefox plugin, but that plugin has been discontinued and I can't find where to download it. (even though it will still work through 9.22.2010)

I think this is what PayPal calls Secure Cards.  If so, they've been making them available through and with their PayPal Plug-in which is now scheduled to be discontinued on 9/22/2010.  I've asked in this forum (in the "Watercooler" section, subject: "Secure Cards after discontinuance of PayPal Plug-In?") and there seem to be lots of similar questions.  I haven't seen any answers though.  I would have thought that simple honest answers would be better corporate PR than silence but apparently not.

You don't have to use the browser plugin, I don't --- just go to the "paypal plugins" link on the right of the home page after logging in and then "secure cards". I think you do already have to have the debit card though. I don't know if it's just the browser plugin or the whole secure card system going away --- I'll be really torqued if the latter, as I use it frequently.

SOOOO disappointed that they're dropping the plug-in.  It has truly been the only thing which enables me to use PayPal for ALL of my online purchases.  And the biggest reason I used it was the secure one-time card.  That concept was very innovative and gave me feel better about what could be done with the credit card number after my one purchase.
