I have been having trouble removing Bill Me Later as my default payment, even though I had called a few months ago to request my payment preferences be changed to reflect using my credit card for a PayPal purchase. I find the website filled with information, but not very clear about resolving an issue like the one above. It was beginning to feel like a scene out of Friends, when Ross tries to quit the gym!
After calling Bill Me Later customer support this evening, I was told that the default payment will stay set at the last used payment method. So, if you use Bill Me Later for a purchase, the default payment option will be Bill Me Later for your next purchase using PayPal, no matter the vendor. The service agent suggested I go into my PayPal account 'profile' and click 'add/edit credit card'. The interesting thing when I did this was that my credit card information was missing! Not sure why... but, without a card filed, it explained why my purchases were going to Bill Me Later. So, I added my credit card information back in. The customer service agent suggested that I then go back to 'profile', then 'add/edit credit card'. I should then see my credit card listed. To the right of the listing there is an 'edit/remove option'. Click 'edit'. More detail comes up on your card. Click 'make primary card,' and that should solve the issue.

Confirmation ... Just made a purchase. Went to view my Bill Me Later account and the balance = $0. Then went to my PayPal account. My purchase appears on PayPal/credit card. So, this appears to work.
