Buyer claims they have different ship to address on file with Paypal and ebay than what is listed

I have a customer who paid for their item. I shipped the item to their unconfirmed address that Paypal has on the payment transaction. This address also matches their shipping address that is on the ebay order details page. Apparently he had moved and UPS delivered the item to the address I was given. The occupants now have the item. The buyer claims that they had changed their address in their paypal account to reflect their new address and had purchased and paid for 2 other items thru paypal on the same day as my transaction. They received the other 2 items at their current address with no problems. Now the buyer thinks that they shouldn't have to pay for us to issue a call tag to pick the item up from the wrong address and reship it to the "correct" address. Paypal shows that I am eligible for Seller Protection on the transaction page.

What should I do? I do not feel that I am responsible for this mishap when I shipped it to the address that was given to me by both Paypal and ebay. Any thoughts on what I should or shouldn't do?

When the buyer clicked the Confirm Payment button to make his payment, the ship to address was shown on that page.  I suspect that they didn't actually read the page and simply clicked.  FWIW, when I moved, it took some time for all of my address corrections to trickle through the eBay and PayPal servers and I almost made this same mistake myself.

It is going to come down to their word against yours.  You might plead your case to the eBay Seller Protection people and see if they can back up your story.  Even if they do, the buyer will probably whine about it and you will probably end up sending a pickup tag
