Hey just thought I would get other peoples thoughts on this as I just caught this quick and it is a damn good job really.
So I ordered the new Oculus Rift S Headset on April the 30th and I did it using my paypal credit as I though it would be handing paying it over the 4 months interest free (£100) per month as it was £399.
I had the oculus games store on my pc from when I had the original rift headset last year, anyway I went to purchase a new game yesterday and I had to update my payment options as it was not updated from last year so to pay for this game I used paypal so I signed in but I chose to just pay right away for the game so did it from my bank account.
I went to my paypal 5 mins ago as I got a email this morning saying the headset will be prepped for shipping as it is being released on the 21st to find the payment method for the headset was actually coming out of my bank account and not paypal credit like I selected.
All I can think of is with me buying that game using paypal on my oculus account it has switched all oculus purchases inc my headset purchase to my bank account lol
I do have money in but I would rather pay it over the 4 months instead of having a full £400 out in 1 chunk
good job I checked, as the money does not come out till they actually ship.
This sound wrong to anyone else?

Some merchants like to streamline checkout so a billing agreement payment link is set up between your account with the merchant and PayPal with a particular payment method set up so have to be extra careful and always check the actual payment method settings prior, during and after purchase. On rare occasions, after completing payment with PayPal Credit, the system may end up using a linked payment method instead even after you checkout with PayPal Credit as PayPal reserves the right to restrict the use of the credit line depending on the circumstances of your purchase so yeah do make sure you have enough money in all your funding sources.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you for the reply 🙂
In my summery it is coming up as pre-approved payment as of today but when I click on it, it lets me managed payments and then I can click to change funding source.
so changed it back to paypal credit, do you think this will not be taken out of my paypal credit when they take the payment.

I am saying it is possible, you never know. There have been reports where people pay with PPC and it ended up on their bank account or other linked method because the system decides whether it's a risky transaction based on some risk assessment algorithm PayPal has built in to checkout. If you are able to update and select PayPal Credit for this pre-sale/pre-approved payment transaction, that will be the payment method used but know that it can be switched by PayPal is all I'm saying I just don't want you to be puzzled and mystified if that happens.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

ah ok I will keep a look out see if it changes, if this is the case I will just not bother using paypal credit again as it basically makes it null and void and useless dosent it if you can not actually use it and if they switch it back to you`re bank and not even bother to e-mail and tell you so you can make sure you have enough funds in the bank account lol its not good customer service if this is actually the case, though it does not sound quite right as I am sure they would go on how you have used the account before and payments etc 😕
ah well I shall see as I think the payment will be fully coming out tomorrow sometime
thank you 😄

@sharpiemarker just a update I spoke to paypal on twitter and they stated They do not change payment options, and do not know why it switched to my bank account, as I 100% chose paypal credit and I even made double sure after the transaction was all over to check it was on paypal credit.
They said because it is in process on their side it may be too late, even though when I selected the transaction it let me change payment method to paypal credit, I called my bank and they said 100% there is no transaction on their on for the £399 yet, so I have set up as a back up funding source my paypal credit, fully cancelled my paypal debit setup with my bank as my bank said if I did this and paypal took the payment then it would go back into my bank as a rebound refund or something and then paypal will then take the payment from my backup funding source which is paypal credit (this is what paypal said on twitter too).
so will see if this sorts it out
but I am still thinking maybe when I bought the games on the oculus store and switched payment source to bank account it actually then switched payment method to my bank for my preorder for the £399 too, as it was only pre-approved yesterday and I bought the games a few days ago lol
