I'm new to 2FA. I set up my ipad with Google Authenticator, got into our Paypal account and set it up. No problem. But thinking "what if I lose my ipad" my husband was going to put our paypal account on his ipad (same app) and even though it shows you can "add a device", when I try to set his up it says "Sorry, you can only have 1 authenticator app at a time."
How do I get it to work? It's worked to set up 2 ipads for the same account on other sites like Amazon. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your feedback. You can add up to 6 mobile phone numbers as back-up methods for 2-step verification and only link 1 authenticator app at a time.
